Jookyung Lee is interested in the photographic mediumโ€™s inherent capacity for nonverbal, visceral communication. Through the seemingly simple act of attentive observation in the everyday, his practice meditates on light and darkness, the literal and metaphorical, the external and inner.

Born in Iowa City, Iowa in 1982, Jookyung Lee studied cultural anthropology at Bowdoin College.

He currently works in Seoul.
